Highcliffe wins Bronze at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2014/15.
In November 2014 we won Silver at the Cornwall Tourism awards 2014/15. After 6 years of intensive refurbishment and investment into our customer service and business structure we felt absolutely elated. Experts in our field had dragged us through an intensive 3 stage judging system and awarded us handsomely.
Because of this success we were entered into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards. Another level altogether. We were entered amongst other winning businesses not just from Cornwall but Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Gloucestershire aswell. We genuinly did not think that we would come home with anything after seeing the other finalists in the B&B / Guest Accommodation category. Included in our category was a mansion with endless grounds and a farm with hots tubs so our terrified little town house and our intimidated selves were going along for the ride not the award. Off we went to The Grand Pier at Weston Super Mare to try our luck amongst the best of the South West. To come home with a bronze is fabulous and truly a keen motivator. We are delighted to say the least.
Amongst the winners in other categories were Natham Outlaw for ‘Taste of The South West and Michael Eavis of Glastonbury for ‘Outstanding Contribution’ credited for bringing millions to the county. Travel writer and presenter Monty Halls was key speaker and the friendly face who gave us our award. He runs a small business in the West Country too so was very understanding of how to run a business in the tourism industry. 98 trophies were handed out with a record breaking 425 entries. The buzz in the room was electric and it was facinating to hear some of the achievements made by our peers. A very inspiring evening.
We are so proud to bring home an award for Falmouth. If our award helps reasure prospective guests that Falmouth is a town worth their attention, then every second of our time has been well spent. We are so proud to be a successful part of a town that has; 3 beaches: Gylly, Swanpool & Castle Beach, a harbour, a castle: Pendennis, an award winning visitor attraction in The National Maritime Museum, twice hosted The Tall Ships Regatta and boasts an absolutley disgustingly huge amount of amazing restaurants, bars and eateries.
